Before You Read

Dear reader,

We’ll get right to it: Young people today are departing the faith in historic numbers as the church is either unwilling or unable to address their questions on science and faith. BioLogos is hosting those tough conversations. Not with anger, but with grace. Not with a simplistic position to earn credibility on the left or the right, but a message that is informed, faithful, and hopeful.

Although voices on both sides are loud and extreme, we are breaking through. But as a nonprofit, we rely on the generosity of donors like you to continue this challenging work. Your tax deductible gift today will help us continue to counter the polarizing narratives of today with a message that is informed, hopeful, and faithful.

Miller & Levine's Biology Book CoverPublished by Pearson and authored by Ken Miller and Joe Levine. This substantial text presents in-depth coverage of biology, including many chapters on evolution, and has come to be one of the most respected and widely used high school biology texts in the U.S. It has been used in many different settings including public schools, private schools (including Christian schools), and by homeschooling families wanting the most complete presentation of biology available.

The 2019 edition has a bee on the cover, but the macaw and even older dragonfly editions are still highly useful and copies tend to be cheaper. The text’s accompanying websites house supplemental resources for teachers and students including interesting videos created by Untamed Science to heighten student interest and understanding.

Also see Miller and Levine’s site for numerous resources and articles including general science news as well as their perspective on teaching evolution in a climate of controversy. Dr. Miller is a man of faith who has been vocal in his support of the teaching of evolution.
