AI & Human Flourishing: A Podcast mini-series
Artificial intelligence is changing what machines can do—and raising old questions with new urgency. What makes us human? What is intelligence? What is technology for? And what kind of world do we want to create?
In this three-part series, Language of God explores AI from the inside out. We begin by looking inside the machines at how artificial intelligence and large language models actually work. Then we turn to the ways these technologies are already changing our creativity, relationships, bodies, and minds. Finally, we ask what Christian theology might contribute to the conversation and consider some principles for using AI without losing sight of the things that make a human life worth living.
Along the way, computer scientists, theologians, ethicists, and other researchers help us move beyond both the promise that AI will solve our problems and the fear that it will destroy what makes us human. Instead, we ask a more fundamental question: How might we use powerful new technologies in ways that contribute to genuine human flourishing?
People say let’s use human-centered AI. To me, it’s just like, let’s be human-centered. Let’s be human-centered. If AI will help, great. If electricity will help, great. Whatever it might be.
