Dr. Ming Wang, a Harvard &amp; MIT graduate (MD, magna cum laude), is one of the few laser eye surgeons in the world today who hold a doctorate degree in laser physics. He is co-founder of the non-profit <a href="https://commongroundnetwork.org/?page_id=839">Common Ground Network</a>. The film “<a href="https://www.drmingwang.com/movie-sight-link.html">Sight</a>” is based on Dr. Wang’s autobiography “<a href="https://www.fromdarknesstosight.com/">From Darkness to Sight</a>”, co-starring Greg Kinnear.

As a teenager, Ming fought valiantly to escape China’s Cultural Revolution – during which millions of innocent youth were deported to remote areas to face a life sentence of hard labor and poverty. He came to America with only $50 and earned two doctorate degrees, one in laser physics and one in medicine, and graduated with the highest honors from Harvard Medical School and MIT. 

The amniotic membrane contact lens, which Dr. Wang invented and holds two U.S. patents for, has been used by tens of thousands of eye doctors in nearly every nation throughout the world, and millions of patients have had their eyesight restored.

<a href="https://wangfoundation.org/">Wang Foundation for Sight Restoration</a> has helped patients from over 40 states in the U.S. and 55 countries, with all sight restoration surgeries performed free-of-charge. Dr. Wang was named the <a href="https://www2.drmingwang.com/story_dr_wang_nashvillian_2016.html">Kiwanis Nashvillian</a> of the Year for his lifelong dedication to help blind orphaned children from around the world.

Dr. John Trinder is a Critical Care specialist working in a teaching hospital in Northern Ireland, UK. He was born in Belfast, and trained in the UK and Australia. While he is mainly a bedside clinician, he is active in research, publishing in peer-reviewed and high impact journals, and he has a PhD-equivalent MD (U.K.). He was the inaugural President of the Northern Ireland Intensive Care Society, former Clinical Lead of Northern Ireland Critical Care Network, and former Chair of an NHS Research Ethics Committee. He is married with 2 grown children, and plays electric guitar at his church and in a blues band.

Ciara Reyes-Ton is a biologist, science writer and editor who is passionate about science communication to faith communities. She has a Ph.D. in Cell &amp; Molecular Biology from the University of Michigan, and a B.S. in Biology from Valparaiso University. She has served as Managing Editor for the American Scientific Affiliation’s <a href="https://godandnature.asa3.org/" data-stringify-link="https://godandnature.asa3.org/" data-sk="tooltip_parent">God &amp; Nature Magazine</a>, and previously taught Biology at Belmont University and Nashville State Community College. She is currently the Digital Content Editor for BioLogos and an Adjunct Professor at Lipscomb University. Outside science, she enjoys singing as part of her band <a href="https://www.mountcarmell.com/">Mount Carmell</a> and drinking coffee. She recently released a new single "<a href="https://music.apple.com/us/album/to-become-human-single/1648561459">To Become Human</a>," a song that explores the biology and theology of what it means to be human. She is also the author of "<a href="https://scienceforthechurch.org/product/look-closely-ebook/">Look Closely</a>," a science and faith devotional that explores the life of Christ by bringing scripture in conversation with science, from water walking lizards to dividing cells and resurrecting corals.

Georgia M. Dunston, PhD, is Professor Emerita and former chair of the Department of Microbiology, Howard University College of Medicine; founding director of the National Human Genome Center (NHGC) at Howard University (HU), and former Director of Molecular Genetics in the NHGC. She was founder and director of the Human Immunogenetics Laboratory at HU and has published extensively on genetic variation in human major histocompatibility complex antigen system and other common markers of disease susceptibility in African Americans. She served on the National Advisory Council for the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences; the Genetic Basis of Disease Review Committee for the National Institute of General Medical Sciences, and the National Academy of Sciences Review Committee on Human Genome Diversity Project. Her research on human genome variation in disease susceptibility and health disparities has been the vanguard of efforts at Howard University to build national and international research collaborations focusing on the genetics of diseases common in African Americans and other African Diaspora populations.

Dr. Apryl Brown is a leader in the field of public health and a health and wellness minister ordained in the African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church. Since earning her M.D. from Ross University School of Medicine and her Master of Public Health from Tulane University, Dr. Brown has held various leadership roles in the American Public Health Association, served on the board of directors of the Michigan Public Health Association, published research on the community impacts of social determinants of health, and presently, she serves as the Editor-in-Chief of the MedCrave Online Journal of Public Health. Dr. Brown also teaches courses in introductory biology, human anatomy &amp; physiology, and pathophysiology at Wayne County Community College District in Wayne County, Michigan, for which she has won numerous awards for her excellence in teaching and her knowledge of science.

Dr. Brown who was ordained an AME itinerant deacon serves as a local health director affiliated with the AME Church (AMEC) International Health Commission. She is active in both faith-based and educational health outreach endeavors in her community and through national organizations.

Christin Hanigan is the Senior Specialist for Advanced Molecular Detection at the Association of Public Health Laboratories (APHL), where she works in partnership with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and public health laboratories on their implementation and use of Next Generation Sequencing for infectious disease detection and surveillance.  Christin received her B.S. in Biochemistry and Mathematics from Seton Hill University in Greensburg, PA and her Ph.D. in Cellular and Molecular Medicine from Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in Baltimore, MD. She completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine.

For both her graduate and post-doctoral fellowship research, her research interests were in cancer epigenetics and is published in several peer-reviewed journals. Christin lives in Baltimore, MD and is actively engaged at her church, where she has been an elder at <a href="https://gracecitybaltimore.org/">GraceCity church </a>for seven years. She was recently named as a part-time executive pastor at GraceCity.  GraceCity’s mission is to build a reconciled community in Baltimore. As part of this idea of a reconciling community, Christin recently led a discussion called “Science and Faith: Complementary or Contradictory?”  She is currently enrolled in seminary pursuing a Master’s of Church Ministries at St. Mary’s Ecumenical Institute.

Before graduate school, Michelle was a Fulbright Scholar in Heidelberg, Germany. She became a believing Christian in 1998 and is now the wife of a bi-vocational associate pastor and the mother of two young children.

Paul McIntosh is a pediatrician who has been taking care of children in Virginia since 2010. Dr. McIntosh attended the University of Virginia where he received his Bachelor of Science with Distinction in Chemistry followed by his Doctor of Medicine degree. He also co-hosts (with David French) the Good Faith podcast where they discuss how Christian faith intersects with culture, law, and politics. His Biblical insights are enriched by his own secular career, which includes founding a White House award winning nonprofit consulting firm and teaching strategic planning as a faculty at American University’s School of International Service. Curtis graduated from Harvard University and is a former Rockefeller Fellow.

BioLogos - Francis Collins

<a href="https://biologos.org/francis-collins-founder-of-biologos/">Francis Collins</a> is one of the world's leading scientists and geneticists, and the founder of BioLogos, where he is now a Senior Fellow. In his early scientific career, he discovered the gene for cystic fibrosis. Then he led an international collaboration that first mapped the entire human genome. For that work he was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom and the National Medal of Science. In 2008 he was appointed to his current role as Director of the National Institutes of Health, where he has been overseeing the country’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In 2006, Collins wrote the best-selling book The Language of God. It tells the story of his journey from atheism to Christian belief, showing that science actually enhances faith. The tremendous response to the book prompted Collins to found BioLogos. He envisioned it as a forum to discuss issues at the intersection of faith and science and to celebrate the harmony found there. His reputation quickly attracted a large network of faith leaders, including Tim Keller, Philip Yancey, and NT Wright. These and others joined the BioLogos conversation and affirmed the value of engaging science as believers. BioLogos is now an organization that reaches millions around the world.

In celebration of his world-class scientific accomplishments and deep Christian faith, Collins was awarded the Templeton Prize in 2020. It honors individuals who are "harnessing the power of the sciences to explore the deepest questions of the universe and humankind’s place and purpose within it.” He joined a prestigious group of previous winners, including Mother Teresa, Francis Ayala, Charles Townes, Desmond Tutu, and Billy Graham.

Colin studied creative writing and environmental studies at Hope College and went on to receive his Masters of Environmental Management from the Nicholas School of the Environment at Duke University concentrating in communications. He continues to enjoy the beauty of God’s creation with his wife and son while camping, sailing, hiking and exploring the wild places of this world.

Rachel is a PhD student studying neuroscience at the University of Michigan. She received her bachelors from Bethel University in St Paul Minnesota. Her research focuses are on consciousness and memory. She also enjoys singing, playing piano and guitar, painting and any chance to get outdoors.
