"I do not feel obliged to believe that the same God who has endowed us with senses, reason, and intellect has intended us to forgo their use and by some other means to give us knowledge which we can attain by them." -Galileo Galelei
In the 1600s, Galileo turned his eyes to the heavens to study creation in a way never before possible, and invited the church to share in the wonder of his discoveries. In the present day, scientists are rapidly expanding our knowledge of life on earth through the "telescopes" of genomics and paleontology. As in Galileo's day, there is a need for the church to understand new scientific discoveries, and for reflection on how new knowledge fits with Christian convictions; the goal of this blog is to facilitate both.
