Sarah Bodbyl Roels is Associate Dean at the Van Andel Institute Graduate School where she supports the curriculum, student fellowships, and student internships. Sarah earned her doctorate in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from the University of Kansas, where she studied mating system evolution, behavioral ecology, and conservation. Postdoctoral experiences at Michigan State University formed Sarah’s continuing interests in science communication and the scholarship of teaching and learning.

Prior to her current appointment, Sarah supported faculty development at Colorado School of Mines, offering professional teaching and learning opportunities across the university. Sarah enjoys assisting continuous improvement of teaching and learning across all instructional levels.

Sarah is a member of the BioLogos Voices speakers bureau, the Advisory Council, and the BioLogos Integrate curriculum development team. Sarah passionately explores the relationship between science and faith and appreciates opportunities to learn from others.

She and her husband Steve, also a scientist, are avid birders and their family includes a horse, a donkey, a dog, and numerous chickens.
