Hugh Ross

Hugh Ross heads the leading Old Earth Creationist organization Reasons to Believe, which he founded in 1986. Ross has a doctorate in astronomy from the University of Toronto and has written many books, including The Fingerprint of God, The Creator and the Cosmos, A Matter of Days and More Than a Theory. He is a frequent lecturer and guest on television and radio programs, and he regularly contributes articles for RTB’s magazine and newsletter. Ross supports the scientific and historical accuracy of the Bible and maintains that natural science and a literal reading of the Bible do not, will not, and cannot contradict. He accepts a “day-age” reading of Genesis, in which the Hebrew word yom refers to a long period of time rather than a literal 24 hours. Ross is a strong concordist, meaning he promotes the use of scientific research as a means of supporting and reinforcing the accuracy of the Bible. He has been criticized for reading modern scientific ideas, like the Big Bang theory, back into ancient texts.
