Michael Behe

Michael Behe is a biochemist, intelligent design advocate and a senior fellow at the Discovery Institute’s Center for Science and Culture. Behe originated the argument of irreducible complexity, the idea that some biological systems are too complex to be explained by natural selection. His ideas on the subject were published in Darwin’s Black Box. His followup book, The Edge of Evolution, claims that evolution is limited in its ability to generate diversity among species, and only the intervention of an intelligent designer could explain the diversity of life we see on Earth. Behe was a key witness for the defense in the famous intelligent design trial of Kitzmiller v. Dover. He has published more than 35 articles in refereed biochemical journals and has written editorials for several major news sources supporting the theory of intelligent design. He currently is a biochemistry professor at Lehigh University in Pennsylvania.
