Howard Van Till is emeritus professor of physics and astronomy at Calvin College in Michigan and author of The Fourth Day: What the Bible and the Heavens Are Telling Us About the Creation. Van Till has research experience in solid-state physics and millimeter-wave astronomy. During the past two decades, his writing and speaking efforts explored the relationship between science and religion. Van Till encourages non-adversarial and mutually informative engagement of Christian theology and the natural sciences, especially evolution. A founding member of the International Society for Science and Religion and a member of the editorial board of Science and Christian Belief, he also has served on the executive council of the American Scientific Affiliation. In recent years, however, he has moved from a Calvinist tradition to freethought.
