Henry M. Morris

Henry M. Morris is considered the father of the modern creation science movement. Morris was a staunch young earth creationist and supported the belief that the world’s creation occurred over a literal six days. His book The Genesis Flood, written with John C. Whitcomb and published in 1961, was one of the first major attempts in the 20th century to provide a scientific explanation for a young earth. In the book, Morris maintains that a worldwide flood could explain away the fossil record. He founded the Institute for Creation Research in 1970, which, under his leadership, became a major intellectual center for the creationist movement. He was also a vocal critic of evolutionary theory in books such as The Long War Against God: The History and Impact of the Creation/Evolution Conflict. Morris wrote more than 60 books on creationism and apologetics over the course of his life.
