Denis Lamoureux
Denis O. Lamoureux is an associate professor of science-and-religion at St. Joseph's College in the University of Alberta. Lamoureux, who has doctorates in biblical studies, biology and dentistry, focuses his work on the modern origins controversy. He contends that “the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit created the universe and life through an ordained, sustained, and design-reflecting evolutionary process.” His major work is the book Evolutionary Creation, in which he argues that the simple either/or approach to origins prohibits people from making informed choices. Lamoureux believes the warfare model of science-and-religion interferes with clear thinking about how to relate those two fields. He argues that if the limits of both Christianity and evolutionary biology are respected, then science and religion are not only complementary but also necessarily related in helpful ways. Lamoureux describes his belief as evolutionary creation, which is essentially identical to BioLogos.
