Workshops

The BioLogos Foundation invites key evangelical Christian opinion leaders to gather to build relationships and explore strategies to help Christians become comfortable with contemporary scientific theories about the origins of life. Scientists, theologians and pastors collaborate on this important task.

2009

The first BioLogos workshop was held November 10-12, 2009, in New York City and was co-sponsored by the Rev. Tim Keller, pastor of Redeemer Church in New York’s leading evangelical fellowship. This meeting sought to build bridges and enable comfortable communication channels between respected evangelical scientists working on origins and key religious leaders in the evangelical Christian church. Fifty-five leading evangelical pastors, theologians, scientists, and other scholars were in attendance.

The title of the workshop, "In Search of a Theology of Celebration", highlighted the event's focus on celebrating God’s creation in light of 21st century knowledge about the universe and our place in it. The discussions at the workshop centered around seven white papers addressing some of the key topic facing evangelical Christians in the science and religion dialogue. These white papers will be made available over the coming months in our Scholarly Essays section.

The workshop also produced a signed statement on the significance of the event, which can be downloaded here.
