From Our Inbox: November 2013
This month we wanted to share the story of someone who wrote to us of his faith journey and who has joined our community and conversations. He is one of many who can say, “I am BioLogos.”
For years I have been struggling to reconcile my faith in, and experiences of, a real God and his salvation of me through Jesus Christ, with traditional and mainstream Bible teaching versus science.
I know through my life experience that God is a real being, and that Jesus really is the Saviour sent from God – and that the Bible is a really important book, full of stories and truths about how God has interacted with man over time. But, at the same time I also empathized with many scientists criticizing Christians for ‘bible-based’ views on how the universe/world/mankind came into being. And I have heard many Christians teaching ‘truth’ from the Bible which just didn’t add up for me.
I just found your website and, finally, I seem to have found a group of Christians who are not driven by a particular worldview that ultimately distorts their thinking. You offer a faith-filled, and yet objective and rational view of how the Bible and science can be explored and studied together.
Thank you, thank you, thank you so much for taking the time to develop all your hard work, study and learning into what is a very accessible and beautifully put together website.
And for what it’s worth, I thank you because in my experience it takes a lot of faith and experience of God to continue to believe and proclaim God and Jesus as reality and the solution to the mess the world is in. I can understand the difficulties you encounter when one accepts that the world and science are full of truth that potentially ‘upsets’ many traditional beliefs about God and the Christian faith.
Sorry this is a little long – but your website has encouraged me in my faith so much – and in many ways I now no longer feel alone in my understanding of the Bible and scripture.
So thank you so much, and please continue your incredibly helpful work.
Bless you all!
