A BioLogos Book Club…Why?
Science is the only reliable way to understand the natural world, and its tools when properly utilized can generate profound insights into material existence. But science is powerless to answer questions such as, 'Why did the universe come into being?' and 'What is the meaning of human existence?’ (Francis Collins, The Language of God)
Have you ever wondered what brought Francis Collins to this conclusion and what his personal journey looked like as he sought out meaning for his own life in the midst of a successful scientific career? How does our culture view the power of science?
These are just a few of the questions that will be asked in book clubs across the country as we launch the new BioLogos Book Club. We're encouraging campuses and churches to bring together groups for gracious dialogue about creation and evolution, showing that science need not be a barrier to faith.
So if someone asks, “A BioLogos Book Club…. Why?”, here are some great reasons to get involved:
- To investigate great resources from top-notch scientists, theologians, biblical scholars, historians, and more.
- To participate in gracious dialogue with seekers and fellow believers who bring a variety of perspectives.
- To experience new growth in your own understanding of the harmony between science and biblical faith.
It’s not too late for you to join us! The discussion questions are now available for download on our book club page and there you will also find a schedule for the online discussion which began Friday, January 24, through the BioLogos daily blog. Every other Friday after that, through April, the Book Club will be the focus of the daily blog. Dr. Jim Stump, Content Manager for BioLogos, will be writing about what he’s been reading and thinking about from The Language of God.
