Ben McFarland, BioLogos Voices speaker, will be participating in Seattle Pacific University's Day of Common Learning.
"A Gallup Poll conducted from May 3 to 7 in 2017 asked people to state their views on the origin and development of human beings, as it has since 1981. The number of people responding 'God guided the process' rose sharply since the previous poll in 2014. For the first time, equal numbers of people answered 'God guided' as answered 'God created humans in their present form.' [Ben McFarland] thinks this represents part of a cultural shift in evangelical views of science, extending even to recent worship songs. [He] will analyze the Gallup Poll data and discuss how they fit with the Pentecostal theologian [and fellow BioLogos Voices speaker] Amos Yong’s views on the activity of the Holy Spirit in the story of creation. Yong outlines a robust theology of creation, arguing that the Spirit 'guided the process.'"
