BioLogos board member, Praveen Sethupathy, will be speaking at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church in Houston, TX, on January 19. His talk titled "Are We More Than Our Genes?" is part of the free lecture series on Science and Christianity: Collision or Coherence. There is a reception immediately following the lecture.
Abstract: There is a rich Christian tradition of science and faith as co-laborers in the pursuit of knowledge and truth. However, many of the loudest voices in today’s culture, both within and outside the Church, are drowning out the wisdom of the centuries that have preceded us, popularizing instead a false view that science and faith are inherently at odds. As a committed Christian and a scientist, Dr. Sethupathy will share what he has learned about both science and faith that dissuades him of any disharmony between the two. It is his hope that we can embrace the life of the mind and spirit in the Christian community, and meet the challenging questions we face with both intellectual rigor and orthodox Christian faith. The title of Dr. Sethupathy’s talk is Are We More Than Our Genes? He will present a few key lessons he’s learned from his work in science and from his faith that provide a framework for exploring this question.
