Evolution and the Imago Dei: The Artist as Translator

IMAGE
Dr. Gregory Wolfe and Mr. Stuart Scadron-Wattles

Image will gather artists and writers of faith whose work explores the dialogue between evolutionary science and faith practice, convening a conversation between them and scientists, theologians, and church leaders in private and public conferences. The results will be produced as artwork, blog posts on Image’s Good Letters blog, and part of a feature issue of Image Journal. The feature issue will be accompanied by curricula and study guides for undergraduate class and adult study group use.

Project Activity

In November 2013, Image held a colloquy attended by a group of artists led by editor Gregory Wolfe with key contributions from theologian Dr. Jeremy Begbie and environmental scientist Calvin DeWitt. The artists in attendance were selected for their demonstrated interest in the theme of creation—a theme that also runs through their artworks.

For more info about this event or other aspects of the project, please see the project page on the Image website.
