BioLogos’ commitment to nurturing the harmony between science and faith has not only been greatly inspiring to me, but has also been monumental in building my faith in Jesus Christ.
While growing up, I was raised with the notion that religious practices should not be imposed upon a child by his/her parents, thus the world of faith and religion was not something I considered much. As an aspiring scientist, I focused my attention on my studies and found peace in understanding the world through the eyes of science. While I believed in God, I didn’t really know what that meant or looked like and wasn’t sure how that fit in with my scientific views. While I was continuing my studies as a student, getting my PhD in biochemistry only pushed my endeavors for understanding faith and religion farther from the forefront of my mind.
That was my course until I was faced with my fair share of hardships and began questioning whether a career in scientific research was really what I wanted to pursue. Through the love of my father and the friendship of a colleague that God put in my path, I finally turned to the Lord with a rather cynical heart. I was still unsure how I would be able to reconcile my scientific views and newfound faith until I discovered BioLogos. The resources available on the BioLogos website allowed me to realize that many scientists have found harmony between faith and science. These resources fueled my hunger to learn more about our Creator and stirred a passion in me to be an advocate for the unity between science and faith and to help others.
I am forever grateful for the mission of BioLogos and all of the resources this ministry provides. My life would not be same without this organization.
