About the BioLogos Forum
The BioLogos Forum is designed to foster a serious and comprehensive discussion of Christian faith and the sciences. We believe that charitable engagement of different perspectives within the Church helps sharpen our thinking and deepen our commitment to the truth that is hidden in Christ. So while many of the articles and videos under the distinctive Forum banner come from BioLogos staff and Senior Fellows, we feature a range of voices, including those that disagree with us and with each other. Unless otherwise noted, views expressed are those of the authors, not necessarily of The BioLogos Foundation. You can read more about what we believe here, and join the conversation in the comments section at the end of each post.
John Polkinghorne on Natural Theology, Part 1
On the campus of Point Loma Nazarene University, Reverend Dr. John Polkinghorne inspired students and faculty alike in thinking about the interaction between science and the Christian faith.
John Polkinghorne on Natural Theology, Part 2
Dr. Polkinghorne goes on to look at the first of two meta-questions. These are questions, he says, that arise from science, using scientific tools, but which point in each case to God.
John Polkinghorne on Natural Theology, Part 3
Dr. John Polkinghorne looks at the second of these meta-questions: “Why is the universe so special?” To illustrate this point, he presents several examples of how the universe is fine-tuned for life, including the constants of stars and the balance of “zero point energy”.
John Polkinghorne on Natural Theology, Part 4
Dr. Polkinghorne looks at two explanations for the so-called "fine-tuning" principle -- the multiverse theory and the existence of a divine intelligence -- and explains why natural theology alone is not sufficient to make the case for a God who interacts and cares for his creation.
