This Sunday, amidst our time of worship, we ask that you keep the family of Joel Hunter, pastor of Northland Church and a contributor to The BioLogos Forum, in your prayers. Pastor Hunter’s five-year-old granddaughter Ava has been diagnosed with a rare form of brain cancer two week ago and recently underwent surgery to remove a large tumor from her brain.

Anyone who has seen a loved one or has personally battled with cancer knows what trying times they can be. Your thoughts and prayers are greatly appreciated as they continue to pursue other avenues of treatment.

For the Hunter family, and any other readers who are facing hardships, know that God, and your Christian brothers and sisters, are with you always, even in the darkest of storms:

And I'll praise you in this storm
and I will lift my hands
for You are who You are
no matter where I am
and every tear I've cried
You hold in your hand
You never left my side
and though my heart is torn
I will praise You in this storm

Pastor Joel, Grandma Becky, parents Josh and Lisa, and Ava, may the Lord be close to all of you and pour his grace on you and help you to praise him in this storm.  May God grant Ava good recovery from the surgery and complete healing from the cancer.

As someone who has endured great hardship I know how lonely these times can be. It’s great to know that there are people who are praying and pulling for you. I will keep Ava in my prayers.

Lord bless her with victory over this entirely and Lord bless the family, friends, all sincerely close in affection . God has given man the ability to overcome these evil things to our bodies.
