S. Joshua Swamidass is a physician, a scientist, and an assistant professor of Laboratory and Genomic Medicine at Washington University in St Louis. He obtained his Ph.D. in Information and Computer Sciences and an M.D. from U.C. Irvine in 2009. In his academic work, Swamidass leads an active research group that specializes in mathematically modeling biological systems, publishing over 40 scientific papers (http://swami.wustl.edu/). Currently, his group is NIH funded to model drug metabolism and toxicity. In his service time, Swamidass advises ministries and speaks about finding confident faith in view of the scientific evidence for evolution. This includes work over the last several years at churches and campus ministries (with Cru, Veritas, Intervarsity, and Urbana), and contributions to the Wall Street Journal.
