Darrel Falk is a biology professor at Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego, where he has taught since 1988. His courses include vertebrate physiology, comparative anatomy, microbiology, molecular biology, developmental biology, cell biology, general biology, general zoology, vertebrate biology, history and philosophy of biology and genetics.

Falk has also taught a Bible class in a sunday school for senior adults for many years that has helped him develop a deeper love for the integrity and truth of Scripture. For the past 15 years he has also participated in a weekly theology and science interdisciplinary discussion group at Point Loma University.

Falk’s early research focused on Drosophila molecular and developmental genetics with funding from the National Institutes of Health and the National Science Foundation. He earned a doctorate from the University of Alberta and did postdoctoral work at The University of British Columbia and the University of California, Irvine before accepting a faculty position at Syracuse University in New York. Desiring to focus on undergraduate teaching in a Christian college setting and to think about biology more broadly than from a research perspective, he transitioned into Christian higher education 25 years ago.

Falk has given talks about the relationship between science and faith at many universities and seminaries in the last several years. Falk is a member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the Genetics Society of America and the American Scientific Affiliation. He is the author of Coming to Peace with Science: Bridging the Worlds Between Faith and Biology.
