Brad grew up at church, listening to his dad’s sermons and filling his schedule with youth group, camps, and Bible studies. At a young age he became curious about creation science, devouring books on Genesis, dinosaurs, and Noah’s flood. Through his school years he was encouraged by his parents to explore a wide range of creation perspectives, ranging from young-old to day-age to intelligent design. As a teenager he also developed a passion for writing, serving as co-editor of his high school newspaper and winning a state award for one of his articles. After high school, Brad attended The King’s College in NYC, earning a bachelors in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics in 2010. During college, he interviewed BioLogos founder Dr. Francis Collins for the school newspaper. After reading Collins' book The Language of God, he investigated and adopted the evolutionary creation perspective. Brad left college with a passion to investigate theology and the Bible on a deeper level, which led him to Biblical Theological Seminary in Hatfield, PA. There, he studied the ancient context and the complex message of the early chapters of Genesis. He completed a master’s thesis on the “deep” waters of Genesis 1:2 and graduated in June 2013 with a Master of Divinity degree. He is thrilled to join the BioLogos team, where his new duties include managing the daily blog and assisting with the development and refinement of various BioLogos content. He and his wife Beth live in Grand Rapids with Josephine, their beautiful baby girl.
